Comisión Estatal Electoral de Nuevo León

The Comisión Estatal Electoral de Nuevo León, Nuevo León's State Elections Comission, has as its mission to promote the development of democracy in Nuevo León, as the authority in charge of guaranteeing clean electoral processes through the preparation, organization and monitoring of the elections held periodically to the different public offices in the state.

It was created in 1976 as Comisión Estatal de Vigilancia Electoral (State's Commission for Electoral Monitoring), but has since then gone through three very important transformations that have turned it into what is today: a citizen entity, made up of seven commissioners (five chairs and two common substitutes) chosen among the state's more respected citizens.
